  "Sons and lovers" originated in Nottingham in 1966, and in that original line-up were :    Spike Cowlard - guitar, vocals  : Mick Franks - drums, vocals :  Eddie Cooke - bass , vocals : Mick Jameson - guitar, vocals : Stephen Greenfield- vocals

  They soon became very popular with their close harmony vocals, and their efforts culminated in a recording contract with Beacon / EMI records.    Recordings from that period included : " Happiness is love", "Help me I'm on top of the world",  "The girl I'll never know", "Hello heartaches", and "Take up the hammer".   They were one of the best bands never to make it big in the UK and still just as good today.
